Yes. A completed requisition from a healthcare provider is required before diagnostic testing can be performed. Your provider may fax the requisition directly to us, or you may upload it when submitting your appointment request.

If you have a health concern but do not have a requisition, you can book a consultation with a healthcare provider at one of our affiliated healthcare clinics. The healthcare provider will assess your symptoms, medical history and healthcare needs to determine whether testing is appropriate. If medically required, a requisition will be provided.

Booking a consultation does not guarantee that a requisition or diagnostic test will be ordered.

No. Submitting the form is an appointment request only. A member of our team will contact you to confirm availability, collect any additional demographic or medical information, and provide your confirmed appointment details.

We work to provide timely access to diagnostic testing and specialist consultations. Wait times vary depending on the test, location, clinical urgency and appointment availability. Please submit your request, and our team will contact you with the earliest available appointment.

Reports are sent to the referring healthcare provider after the test has been completed, reviewed and finalized. We offer prompt report turnaround; however, timing may vary depending on the type of test and whether additional review is required. Your referring provider is responsible for discussing the results and next steps with you.

Yes. Evening and weekend appointments are available for select services and locations. Availability may vary, so please speak with our team when scheduling your appointment.

No. Diagnostic cardiac testing requires specialized equipment and must be completed in person at a MedCare Diagnostics location. Certain cardiology or specialist consultations may be available virtually when clinically appropriate.

Please bring:

  • A valid Ontario health card, if applicable
  • Your diagnostic testing requisition, unless it was already sent to us
  • Government-issued photo identification
  • A current list of your medications and supplements
  • Any relevant test results or medical documents requested by our team
  • Any forms or instructions provided during appointment confirmation

Please arrive at the time provided by our scheduling team.

Many medically necessary diagnostic tests and consultations may be covered by OHIP for eligible patients with a valid Ontario health card and an appropriate requisition. Certain services, supplies or uninsured procedures may not be covered. Our team will advise you of any applicable fees before your appointment whenever possible.

Coverage is subject to current OHIP eligibility requirements and Ministry of Health rules.

Preparation depends on the type of test you are having. You may be asked to avoid food, caffeine, smoking, certain skincare products or strenuous exercise before your appointment. You may also receive instructions regarding medications and appropriate clothing.

Our team will provide test-specific preparation instructions when confirming your appointment. Do not stop taking prescribed medication unless your healthcare provider or a qualified member of your care team specifically instructs you to do so.

MedCare Diagnostics does not provide emergency care. If you are experiencing chest pain, severe shortness of breath,
fainting or another medical emergency, call 911 or visit the nearest emergency department.
